The amazing Susan Brown from Let’s Laugh will be coordinating a Sunshine Coast first on World Laughter Day, May 5th, 2013 in conjunction with the You Can Heal Yourself Foundation and Expo.
Together they will bring World Laughter Day to life with their own Laughter Flash Mob, with media ready to film, photograph and report on the fun, we are issuing an invitation to all Expo and laughter enthusiasts to be there and add to the fun!
The event time and place will be announced on the You Can Heal Yourself Facebook page as an event after March 1, 2013 with details for media and laughter mob participants – come and laugh with us! on Sunday May 5th, 2013 on the Sunshine Coast – at 11.30am near Gloria Jeans at Sunshine Plaza.
World Laughter Day is the brainchild of Dr. Kataria’s who’s main objectives for Laughter Yoga is to promote world peace through laughter. Some people find this idea fanciful, but an understanding of the science of emotions and emotional contagion in particular shows how this might be achieved. The practice of Laughter Yoga causes the body to release certain ‘Feel Good’ hormones into the bloodstream related to feelings of happiness, warmth, unconditional love, bonding, tolerance, forgiveness, generosity, and compassion. Let’s call this a joy cocktail. The presence of this ‘Joy Cocktail’ of hormones and neuro-peptides precludes the production of other hormones and neuro-peptides that correspond with hatred, fear, violence, jealousy, aggression and the emotions associated with war and oppression.
By practicing Laughter Yoga in groups, the level of this Joy cocktail is raised to high concentrations through the multiplier effect: people leaving Laughter Yoga sessions go forth and interact with many people who are in turn affected to varying degrees by this powerful emotional state of joy. They in turn ‘infect’ other people they come into contact with. You can experience this ‘chain reaction’ after your very first Laughter Yoga session. World Laughter Day is held annually on the first Sunday of May.
Susan who is a member of the World Laughter Movement, has a passion for sharing laughter with ´The World´ and is currently on a world crusade promoting laughter along with its health benefits.
Recently, she was awarded International Laughter Ambassador by Dr. Madan Kataria, from India (the Giggling Guru) himself, for her contribution in sharing the amazing benefits of laughter with the world. Dr. Kataria, pioneered ‘laughter yoga’ in 1995 and in 2004, trained Susan to teach others to use these UNIQUE TECHNIQUES on how to laugh WITHOUT JOKES or HUMOUR or even if you don’t feel like laughing…….(we fake ‘it’ till we make ‘it’)…because the brain doesn’t distinguish the difference….the results are the same..
Susan believes that the whole world needs “lightening-up” as there is so much depression and stress persistently in our lives. It effects all ages. All walks of life. laughter brings harmony and joy to ALL who are willing to allow themselves to laugh and the results of ´ laughter ´ are astounding.
